Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya
The Department of Electronics Engineering of the UNIVERSITAT POLITECNICA DE CATALUNYA is one of the largest Departments of the 42 constituting the UPC. The more active research activities cover microelectronics design and test, low power and low noise design, solid-state devices and Microsystems, instrumentation, bioengineering and power electronics. The VLSI design group has an extended experience in research and development with international recognition and has participated in several EU´s R&D Programs such as ESPRIT, BRITE, GAME, EUROCHIP and EUROPRACTICE and FUSE. Nationally, this group is actively participating in the Microelectronics Program of the Information and Telecommunications Technologies of the CICYT and has been recently awarded the grant of "center of excellence" by the local government.
The team for the project is composed by a Professor and four Titular professors working in the Division of Design and Test of Electronic Circuits and Systems. This group of researchers is well qualified internationally in the fields of Low Power Design and Testability implementations for CMOS circuits and systems. Dr. Figueras is member of the Program Committee of several international conferences including Design and Test Conference in Europe DATE, IEEE – VLSI Test Symposium, PATMOS, DCIS, and member of the editorial board of the Journal of Electronic Testing: Theory and Applications. In the area of low power design his work has been centered in the analysis and estimation power consumption and low power/energy design. The test activities of the group in this domain were started in the Projects EVEREST (ESPRIT II) and ARCHIMEDES (ESPRIT III- Basic Research Action) where the UPC had responsibilities in this area.
